MOMTOK: ‘Mormon Wives’ Friendship Implodes After Jessi Draper Kissed Miranda Hope’s Ex-Husband

A new fracture has emerged inside Hulu’s reality hit The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and this time the drama isn’t happening on camera.

Cast members Miranda Hope and Jessi Draper are now at the center of a growing controversy after reports surfaced that Draper kissed Hope’s ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, at a recent party. Multiple outlets confirmed the incident, with sources saying the kiss happened during a social gathering and was described by insiders as “in the moment” and “not serious.” Still, the fallout among the tight-knit MomTok group has been anything but casual.

THE INCIDENT THAT SPARKED THE DRAMA

According to reports, Draper and McWhorter were seen kissing at a party shortly after Draper publicly discussed her divorce from husband Jordan Ngatikaura. The situation immediately drew attention because McWhorter is the ex-husband of Draper’s co-star and former close friend, Miranda Hope. Hope and McWhorter share two children together and divorced in 2024. Sources say McWhorter informed Hope about the kiss shortly after it happened, prompting a wave of reaction across social media.

MIRANDA’S RESPONSE: “BETRAYAL”

Hope did not stay silent.

After the story began circulating, she posted messages online suggesting she felt betrayed by someone she once trusted. In one statement shared publicly, Hope acknowledged the situation while trying to maintain perspective. “As unfortunate as the filming break is and then also this betrayal, I’m going to try and focus on my kids and reground myself,” she wrote.

Sources close to Hope say the issue is less about McWhorter and more about the friendship she believed she had with Draper.

Hope has also referenced the importance of “girl code,” suggesting the situation crossed a line within the group’s friendships.

THE APOLOGY FLOWERS

Shortly after the news broke publicly, Draper attempted to smooth things over.

Hope revealed that Draper sent her flowers along with an apology note acknowledging the situation.

In the note, Draper reportedly wrote that she understood if Hope was upset and wanted to apologize for what happened. But the gesture may have come too late.

Reports indicate the flowers were delivered after the kiss had already become public knowledge, fueling speculation that the apology was prompted by the growing media attention.

A PATTERN IN MOMTOK?

The situation has also reignited conversation around McWhorter’s dating history within the MomTok circle.

According to reports, McWhorter has previously been linked to other influencers within the group, including brief romantic connections with Layla Taylor and rumors involving Taylor Frankie Paul. That dynamic has led some observers to question how intertwined the group’s relationships have become.

Hope herself hinted at that frustration in social media posts referencing how often members of her circle end up romantically involved with her ex-husband.

THE SHOW’S BIGGER MOMENT

The controversy arrives at an already turbulent time for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, the Hulu reality series that follows a group of Utah TikTok influencers known collectively as “MomTok.”

The show has become one of Hulu’s biggest unscripted hits since its debut in 2024, built around the complicated friendships, marriages, and scandals within the influencer group.

But ironically, this latest drama is unfolding while cameras are reportedly down, meaning the most explosive moment in the group’s friendships may not appear on screen.

WHERE THINGS STAND NOW

For now, Hope says she is focusing on moving forward and prioritizing her children.

Draper has not publicly addressed the situation beyond the apology gesture.

Whether the friendship between the two women can recover remains unclear.

But if the history of MomTok is any indicator, the story is unlikely to end here.
